Couple in Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident Plead No Contest to Manslaughter

A husband and wife who struck and killed a college student and seriously injured her friend have pleaded no contest to charges of vehicular manslaughter. 31 year- old Claudia Cabrera and her husband 32-year-old Joshua Lune, entered a no-contest plea just before their trial into the death of 18-year-old Adriana Bachan was set to begin.

San Francisco Police Department Kicks off Pedestrian Safety Campaign

Pedestrians and accident lawyers in California have been very concerned at the high number of fatalities and injuries in pedestrian accidents in our state. Every year, hundreds of pedestrians are killed and thousands are seriously injured in on the streets of California. The city of San Francisco is beginning a campaign to promote pedestrian safety in the city.

Police Say Los Angeles Pedestrian Fatality Not Linked to Hit and Run

The death of a 13-year-old girl as she was crossing the road on a crosswalk in Los Angeles, had initially led to plenty of confusion about whether the two motorists involved in the accident had been at fault. Police have confirmed now that that was not the case.

Newport Beach Woman Files Claim Against City for Injuries in Pedestrian Accident

In fact, poorly illuminated streets, sidewalks, or crosswalks can be accident magnets, placing motorists, motorcyclists and pedestrians at a high risk for an accident. A Costa Mesa resident who was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident in Newport Beach is suing the city for her injuries. According to the Orange County Register, the victim has filed a legal claim against Newport Beach, alleging that her injuries resulted because of poor illumination on the street.

Distraction-Related Pedestrian Accidents on the Rise

Pedestrian in Los Angeles Accident Succumbs to Injuries

California pedestrian accident lawyers frequently come across horrific cases where pedestrians have been seriously injured by the negligence of motorists. However, this particular accident is particularly heinous. A 25-year-old Los Angeles woman was struck by a Cadillac limousine, and seriously injured.  The driver of the limo proceeded to drive, dragging the pedestrian for almost a mile in downtown Los Angeles before coming to a stop.

Concern as Trucking Industry Lobbyist Begins FMCSA Chief Confirmation Hearings

California trucking accident lawyers regularly follow legislation impacting trucking safety, and other developments that impact the safety of truckers and the motorists who share the roads with them.  This week, President Barrack Obama’s nomination for head of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration began confirmation hearings in the Senate.  What trucking accident lawyers and safety advocates have been concerned about is that nominee Anne Ferro served as a trucking industry lobbyist for the last 6 years. Ferro headed the Maryland affiliate of the trucking industry group, American Trucking Associations. She has been a major lobbyist for the trucking industry in that state.
