Lowe Gas Grills Recalled because of Fire and Burn Hazards
California product liability lawyers are drawing attention to a recall of gas grills because of a fire and burn hazard. The gas grills were sold at Lowes nationwide.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that importer LG Sourcing Inc of North Carolina is recalling about 663,000 gas grills in the United States. The recall has been announced because the burners can deteriorate, causing irregular flames. The lids of some grill models can also catch fire. According to the company, it has received about 40 reports of fires from deteriorating burners, and 23 reports of lids catching fire. In at least one case, the person suffered an eye injury that required surgery, while the firm received 21 reports of minor burns to the hand, arms and face.

Mother of Girl Burned in Park Receives Settlement
The mother of a 5-year-old girl who was severely burned at Jackie Robinson Park in Stamford, Connecticut has reached a $500,000 settlement with the city and a local city contractor.
The settlement relates to the incident in August 2004, where Sofia Silva was burned when her dress caught fire from a spotlight at the park. As the little girl’s dress caught fire, a woman, stopped in a car at a red light outside the park, noticed the sparks and rushed to help the girl. Other people at the park, including a group of soccer players and Sofia’s father, helped extinguish the flames, but by then Sofia had already received severe second-degree and third-degree burns.
