Dangerous California Road Poses Risk of Car Accidents for Motorists
A particular spot on Route 67 has been the site of dozens of car accidents over the past ten years. According to records over the past decade, there have been more than 900 car accidents along the entire highway from El Cajon to Ramona. 58 of these car accidents have occurred on the stretch between Archie Moore Road and Rocklin Oaks Way. About 36 of these accidents have occurred just after the point where the eastbound lanes merge into one.

Orange County-Based Tour Bus Accident in Salinas Valley Kills Five, Dozens Injured
At least five people have been killed and dozens injured in a bus accident in the Salinas Valley on Tuesday. The Orange County-based tour bus carrying Canadian and French tourists, overturned on a highway near Soledad.

Man Sentenced to Two Years for Shaver Lake Boat Hit and Run Accident
A Lake Ellsinore man has been sentenced to two years for a boat accident involving an 11-year-old boy with brain injuries.
Roger Guzman was at the helm of the speedboat when it struck an 11-year-old driven by his father. Dallen suffered head injuries when the boat’s propeller struck his head after the accident. Guzman’s boat also had a passenger 35-year-old Thomas Christopher Kirby. Guzman failed to stop the boat and sped right on. Both Guzman and Kirby were arrested a few days later.

Mother, Daughter Killed in Pasadena Car Accident
A driving error turned fatal, resulting in a multi-vehicle accident in Pasadena that left a mother and her nine-year-old daughter dead. The woman’s other children sustained injuries.
The woman, 35-year-old Robyn Lynn Shaw was in a SUV with her 9-year-old daughter Victoria, a 5-year-old daughter and a 16-month-old son. It was an ordinary trip to school that went horribly wrong when the mother seems to have swerved the vehicle into oncoming vehicles. Robyn and 9-year-old Victoria died instantly, and the two other children in the car sustained serious injuries, including the 5-year-old girl who is said to be in a critical condition. The Toyota Sequoia SUV was severely damaged in the crash, and it took rescue personal 45 minutes before they could extricate Victoria’s body.

Woman Involved in Sacramento Drunk Driving Accident had Three Prior Drunk Driving Convictions
A 33-year-old Sacramento woman who has been charged in a fatal alcohol-related car accident, in which a motorcyclist was killed, had three prior DUI convictions on her record.
Rebecca Vela was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail. She has been charged with murder, hit and run and driving under the influence. On Saturday, Vela was driving her Acura TL at a high speed and rear-ended a motorcycle. The motorcycle rider Stanley Franklin Spaeth Jr. was thrown off his motorcycle. He died instantly. When officers arrived at the crash scene, they found Vela trying to flee the scene. She was first booked on suspension of drunk driving and murder, but hit and run charges were added later.

A 16-year-old girl had been warning authorities in her hometown LA Canada Flintridge for months about the risk of truck accidents posed by these large commercial vehicles driving on Angles Crest Highway.

Multi-Vehicle Accident in Temecula Leads to One Dead, Two Injured
A multi-vehicle accident caused by a drunk driver who was involved in a high speed police chase has ended with one person dead, and others suffering minor injuries.
The driver, Silvero Romero from Vista was pulled over by an officer of the Temecula California Highway Patrol. However, Romero took off in his Ford Explorer, and entered the southbound lane of interstate 15. He was driving at more that 100 mph. Romero drove recklessly using all lanes of the freeway in an effort to throw the officer off. As he headed west on SR 76, Romero ran a red light at an intersection, and crossed over the yellow lines to crash head on with a Toyota pickup. Romero didn’t stop driving after the accident, and continued driving on, ultimately slamming into an F-350. At this point, he lost control of his SUV, and the Explorer flipped over, and crashed down on an embankment. The driver of the Toyota pickup, 27-year-old Moreno Valley resident Douglas Tarry, sustained serious injuries in the car accident, and was rushed to the Palomar Medical Center where he died a short time later. The occupants of the F-350 pickup, husband and wife Jennifer and James Riley suffered minor injuries in the accident. Romero himself was severely injured, and is undergoing treatment at the Palomar Medical Center. He is expected to face felony charges of DUI, manslaughter, hit and run, and evading arrest.

A 31-year-old bartender who was driving a car that crashed into a tree killing her boyfriend, an off duty employee of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, is looking at a possible sentence of 15 years to life in prison.

Californians Warned of Spice-Related Salmonella Outbreak, Products Recalled
After forty-two people including 33 from California were taken ill with salmonella food poisoning after consuming black and white pepper sold by City of Industry-based Union International Food Company, the California Department of Public Health has issued a warning targeting these spice products. Many of these products were purchased by Yuba Sutter restaurants, and so far, no deaths have been linked to the salmonella poisoning. Union International has announced a voluntary recall of 16 of its products, including onion powder, curry, cayenne pepper, garlic, dry mustard and wasabi. These products came under the Uncle Chens and Lian How brands. The products were sold to Asian wholesalers and restaurants, and most of them came in 15-pound packages. However, some were also sold in 4 pound and 1-kilogram packages.
