More Women Allege Sexual Assault by Loma Linda Doctor

The doctor is a part-time urgent care doctor at the Loma Linda University Medical Center

At least two more women have come forward to allege that they were subjected to sexual assault by doctor.  The total number of women who allege abuse by the doctor in Loma Linda Medical Center is now four.

The doctor in question is a part-time urgent care doctor at the Loma Linda University Medical Center.  According to the women, the doctor sexually assaulted them during medical exams.  Back in July, two women aged 32 and 68 accused the doctor of sexual assault.  The younger woman who was being treated by the doctor for chest pain, told police that the doctor had assaulted her during an exam.  Later that month, another doctor at the same clinic told detectives that a 67-year-old woman had also complained about sexual abuse by the doctor.  The first two assaults seemed to occur within a 24 hour period in July.  In September, two more women aged 57 and 60 made similar allegations against the doctor.

The doctor faces several charges, including felony sexual battery and other crimes.  Officials began an investigation in July, and in August, charges were filed against the doctor.  The doctor turned himself in, and is currently being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

The California Medical Board is also investigating these allegations.  Detectives are now urging anybody who has any other information about the assault, or who has been assaulted by the same doctor to come forward.

Sexual assault, rape or sexual abuse can be the most traumatic experiences in a person’s life.  Laws against sex crimes in California are some of the strictest in the country, and a person who is convicted of certain sex crimes may be subject to strict requirements, including mandatory registration in a sex offender registry.  Unfortunately, as San Diego sexual abuse lawyers often see, many of these crimes are committed not by strangers who are already on a sex offender registry, but by people who are in positions of trust.  It’s one of the reasons why so many sexual assault and sexual abuse cases seem to involve coaches, doctors, clergyman, day care providers, therapists, family members and other people in positions of authority and trust.

Coming to terms with the fact that you have been sexually violated can be extremely traumatic, and a person may require months or even years of therapy and counseling before the wounds begin to heal.
