Although attorneys are often the butt of [quite funny] jokes, some of the world’s most influential historical figures were attorneys. People are often surprised to learn that some of the most famous and influential people in history began their professional lives as attorneys. From Abraham Lincoln to Ghandi, to Margaret Thatcher, the list of famous attorneys is long and distinguished.
It makes sense that some of history’s most prolific names studied and practiced law. After all, law is a critical area of expertise for politicians (despite what the reality of the situation may be, they are elected to be “legislators“), and politicians are undeniably in positions of great power and influence.
