San Francisco Giants Fan Suffers Brain Injury in Assault

Giants Dodges Fan Brain Injury

Why can't Dodger fans be more like Angels?

A San Francisco Giants fan who was severely injured in a violent assault in a crowded parking lot after a game, has suffered an injury.  The man’s doctors have confirmed that he has suffered bruising to the brain, and shows some signs of brain dysfunction.

42-year-old Bryan Stow was attacked in the parking lot at Dodgers Stadium after a game.  He was severely beaten, and suffered a serious skull fracture.  The alleged assailants were apparently Dodgers fans, indicating that this was a sports rivalry that turned deadly.

The horrible attack has already united sports fans and the larger community.  The Los Angeles Police Department is still searching for the men who were involved in this assault.  Anyone with information about the assault have been asked to contact Los Angeles Police.  The City Council has already announced a reward of $50,000 for information leading to the assailants.  Meanwhile, Stow’s family is waiting for some progress in his condition.

As of now, doctors have not made a prognosis for his future.  According to them, there is evidence of brain injury and dysfunction.  Typically, such brain injuries tend to affect a person’s memory, cognitive abilities and even personality.  Doctors have informed his family that he is likely to need a long recovery period.  Stowe is a paramedic, a Santa Cruz resident and the father of two.  He is currently being treated at the Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.

Assaults and violence are two of the most common factors that result in brain injuries.  Other causes include motor vehicle accidents, and fall accidents.  Anytime a person suffers a head injury, he’s at a high risk of suffering an injury to his brain.  Even a moderate brain injury can be serious enough to affect a person’s ability to conduct his life as he used to before the injury.  The brain is responsible not just for a person’s thinking, but also for his body movements.  Therefore, any injury can affect all aspects of a person’s life.

The symptoms of a brain injury may differ depending on whether the injury was mild, moderate or severe.  In a mild injury, the person may suffer from headaches, nausea, fatigue, vomiting and dizziness.  There may or may not be a temporary loss of consciousness.  In a moderate brain injury, the person may lose consciousness.  The person may suffer from dizziness, confusion, disorientation and slurred speech.  A severe brain injury can result in the person going into a coma, or a vegetative state, or even death.

Brain injury litigation can be very complex.  Much of the claim depends on evidence that the injury was the result of another person’s negligence or excesses.  An experienced Los Angeles brain injury lawyer can dedicate the financial and legal resources that are necessary to fight a successful claim.
