Watch out for road debris!

Last week, the California car accident attorneys at the Reeves Law Group had blogged about the Serious Road Accident risks every year from road debris.  Over the weekend, another serious accident in California was traced to a piece of road debris that caught a motorist unawares.

According to news reports, the Serious Road Accident involved a sports car on Interstate 8.  A motorist on the highway came across a barbecue grill that had fallen off another vehicle.  The driver swerved to avoid the grill, and in the process, crashed his vehicle.  He suffered a serious head injury, and had to be rushed to the hospital.  According to the California Highway Patrol, his injuries are not life-threatening.

Most road debris-related accidents can be traced to failure on the part of motorists to properly secure the loads on their truck.  Much of this debris falls off pickup trucks.  In California, car accident attorneys often notice that pickup trucks are used as convenient modes of transport of furniture and other household items during a move between apartments.  Besides, people often fill up their pickup trucks with junk, on their way to a garage sale.  The California Highway Patrol is also very familiar with pieces of furniture that fall off from pickup trucks loaded with goodies from the local Home Depot.  Besides pickup trucks, tractor-trailer and flatbed truck drivers are also guilty of failure to secure loads properly, which contributes to road debris being spilled on the highway.
