The Daily Beast has compiled a list of the drunkest cities in America which include cities such as San Diego and San Francisco

The Daily Beast has compiled a list of the drunkest cities in America, based on a number of factors including the average number of drinks consumed as well as the incidence of alcohol-related related liver disease.

San Diego car accident lawyers find that several California cities, including San Francisco and San Diego, find a place on the list. According to the list, the drunkest city in America is Boston, Massachusetts.  Here, the average person drinks an average of 15.5 drinks per month.  Approximately 7.4% of the adult population here consists of heavy drinkers.  Approximately 20% of the population consists of binge drinkers

in 2nd place is Springfield, Massachusetts, where the average person consumes an average of 14.6 drinks a month, and 9.2% of the population consists of heavy drinkers while 19.5% consider themselves binge drinkers.  Springfield is followed by Milwaukee, Reno, San Antonio, Chicago, Austin, St. Louis, San Diego, Burlington-Vermont, Charleston- South Carolina, Denver, Las Vegas, Fort Myers-Florida, Buffalo-New York, Sioux Falls, Lincoln-Nebraska, Seattle, Bismarck-North Dakota, Providence-Rhode Island, San Francisco, Cleveland, Norfork-Virginia, and Houston.

In San Francisco, the average person drank 14.9 drinks a month, and approximately 14.9% of the population is categorized as heavy drinking, while 6.1% of the population is categorized as binge drinking.  In San Diego, the percentage of the population that is categorized as heavy drinking is 7.3%, and the percentage of the population that is categorized as binge drinking is 17.7%.  In San Diego, the average person drinks an average of 14.1 drinks per month.

Oddly enough, Los Angeles does not garner a mention in the list of intoxicated cities.  Neither does New York.  The high numbers of binge drinkers in San Francisco and San Diego should be a matter of concern.  Binge drinking is defined as the consumption of 5 or more alcoholic beverages in a period of 2 hours by men, or the consumption of 4 or more alcoholic beverages in a period of 2 hours by women.  Binge drinking leads to excessive alcohol intoxication, and a much higher risk of drunk driving, because the person has very little understanding of the risks that he or she may be placing other motorists in by driving in such a state.
