Young Boy Killed in Reckless Driving Accident

Reckless Driving AccidentOn Tuesday afternoon, German Amezcua, an employee of TV station Channel 21 and his wife made the hardest decision a parent can ever have to make – they signed papers to donate the organs of their 9-year-old son, Sebastian who was left brain dead after a reckless driving accident caused by a 15-year-old boy.

On Sunday, the Amezcua boys, Sebastian and 6-year-old Emanuel along with their mother dropped by at the station in Fresno, California to visit their father. As they were driving back home, a white Camaro driven by a 15-year-old boy speeding at over 70 miles-an-hour, ran a red light and broadsided the Amezcua’s Honda SUV, pushing it down into a canal. Sebastian suffered massive head injuries, and was declared brain dead at the hospital. 6-year-old Emanuel and the boys’ mother are still undergoing treatment for severe injuries.

The 15-year-old boy, who was driving without a license, tried to run away but residents of the area who had gathered at the scene of the wreck managed to detain him. He is now in police custody. Investigators are trying to ascertain why a 15-year-old was behind the wheel in the first place, although some reports say that he took the car without his parent’s permission. It is believed that two of his friends were in the car too.

He faces several felony charges including vehicular manslaughter, felony hit and run and stealing a car. Meanwhile, as Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer says, a 9-year-old boy is dead, his little brother and mother are critically injured and a family has been devastated because a kid stole his parents’ car, drove recklessly, ran though a red light and slammed into their vehicle.
