The parents of two young women, who were killed when their Enterprise rental car crashed and burst into flames, have been awarded $15 million in damages in an Enterprise Rent-A-Car lawsuit. This is definitely the kind of publicity that Enterprise Rent-A-Car would like to avoid, however it has been involved in other wrongful death liability lawsuits.

Criminal Inquiry of San Franciso Taxi Driver

The cab driver that crashed in San Francisco this week killing the two passengers, is likely to face a criminal inquiry. Police are likely to question the cab driver Fageh Hassan Behbahani, over his failure to pull the cab over, just before the accident.

Huntington Beach Moves to Limit Payout to Family of Junior Lifeguard Killed Last Year

It’s nice to see that Huntington Beach authorities believe that the value of a child’s life is equal to the value of a boat. The city has just moved to take legal action to stop the family of an 11-year-old junior lifeguard, who was killed in a boat accident last year, from suing the city. The city’s lawsuit aims to limit its liability to the value of the vessel involved in the accident.

Los Angeles Police Department Named in Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The family of a young woman who was killed in an accident caused by a speeding Los Angeles Police Department cruiser has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the LAPD, as well as the officers involved in the accident.

Wrongful Death Lawsuit in Redding Claims Dangerous Road Responsible for Fatal Motorcycle Accident

A woman in Shasta County in California who had filed a wrongful death claim against the county in the death of her husband in a motorcycle accident, which has been recently denied. A lawsuit against Shasta County may now be filed.

Red Light Cameras to Prevent Speeding-Related Accidents in California

January 19th, 2010

A proposed new program will increase red light camera systems around California cities and counties, to catch speeding motorists. The governors proposed budget includes a provision for cities and counties to enhance their current red light camera systems. Approximately 500 red light cameras could be installed if the proposal goes through.  These devices, it is believed, could help catch approximately 2.4 million speeding motorists annually.

Brandi Settles Wrongful Death Lawsuit in Los Angeles Accident

November 20th, 2009

Singer Brandi has reached an out court settlement with the parents of the victim from an accident she was involved in three years ago.  In December 2006, the singer rear ended a car on a Los Angeles interchange.  The impact of that crash set off a chain reaction involving several cars, and left one person, Awatef Aboudihaj dead. Since the accident, the singer has been settling with the victim’s family. Earlier this year, she settled with Awatef’s two children, who received $30,000 each. Brandi has now reached a settlement with Awatef’s parents.   The details of the settlement have been kept secret. Earlier this year, an injured motorist also reached a settlement with Brandi.
