California Spinal Cord Injury Lawyers Excited about Potential New Treatment

California spinal cord injury lawyers and patients across the country will be very excited to hear about an interesting new development in treating the condition using polymer spheres.

Researchers at Purdue University in Indiana have announced results from a study they conducted by injecting minute polymers into rats soon after they suffered a spinal injury. According to researcher Ji-Zin Cheng, the copolymer micelles are approximately 100 times smaller than the diameter of a red blood cell. These are not new to those in medical research. They have been used for several decades as a means of drug delivery. Cheng, however, used these copolymer micelles to repair membranes.

More Americans Suffer from Spinal Cord Injuries than Previously Known

A survey by the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation reveals that approximately 5.6 million Americans suffer from some degree of paralyses. The findings of the survey that included more than 33,000 American households seem to show more numbers of people suffering from varying degrees of paralyses than was previously known. The survey defines paralyses as “a central nervous disorder resulting in difficulty or inability to move” arms or legs. The survey didn’t include people suffering from mobility issues as a result of arthritis, diabetes, muscular dystrophy or obesity.
