Police Investigating Multivehicle Los Angeles Accident

The Los Angeles Police Department is currently investigating an accident that occurred earlier this week in the Mid-Wilshire area, and involved several vehicles.  A female motorist plowed her BMW into several parked cars, causing severe property damage and fortunately, no injuries to others.  The woman herself was injured, and had to be taken to the hospital.

Church Bus Crash in San Bernardino After Drifting Into Opposing Traffic

New reports indicate that the church bus that was involved in a horrific accident in Arrowhead earlier this week had drifted off the yellow line and into opposing traffic just before it crashed into a car driven by an off-duty fire officer.  Investigations into the accident that killed the bus driver and injured 23 passengers are still on.

Elderly Driver Causes Multi Vehicle San Diego Accident

Several people were injured in a multi vehicle accident in San Diego, allegedly caused by an elderly driver who was driving the wrong way on Interstate 5. According to news reports, the elderly man was driving a white Ford F150 southbound in the northbound lanes at freeway speeds. The pickup truck crashed into a concrete piling, and then spun into the traffic lanes. The pickup truck was hit by a Land Rover, causing the pickup truck to split in half. The Land Rover was then struck by a Peterbilt tanker truck.  By the time the carnage ended, the driver of the pickup truck and one of the passengers in the Land Rover were seriously injured. All the other injured motorists injured were treated at the scene.

An 18-year-old woman has been charged for her role in a fatal pedestrian accident in Los Angeles last month. Moran Biton has been charged with misdemeanor related to the fatal hit and run accident that killed a 16-year-old Notre Dame high school student.

A unique new study looks at the kind of effects obesity has when a person suffers injuries in an automobile accident, and the kind of injuries that an overweight person can expect. The researchers compiled data from the US National Automotive Sampling System’s Crash Worthiness Data System. They found that men with a high body mass index were at a high risk of certain injuries, like upper body injuries.

National Safety Council Releases Paper on Distracted Driving Accidents

The National Safety Council has released a white paper into the crash risks from distracted driving accidents. The paper is called Understanding the Distracted Brain: Why Driving While Using Hands-Free Cell Phones Is Risky Behavior.”  The report is an analysis of how current legislation in place in several states may not be addressing the problem of distracted driving adequately by merely banning the use of hand-held cell phones while driving.
