Ford Looking at Seatbelts with Airbags to Reduce Accident Injuries

Toyota Tundra, Ford F-150 Pickup Trucks under Investigation for Rust, Defective Airbag Issues

Honda Under Investigation for Defective Airbag Recall

Honda is being investigated for its delay in recalling thousands of vehicles for defective airbags.

According to the New York Times, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating whether the automaker delayed the recall of approximately 440,000 vehicles for an airbag defect that could allow pieces of metal to injure the driver. In November 2008, Honda announced a recall of about 3,900 Accord and Civic models because of a hazard from an excessively powerful  airbag inflator. This defect can cause serious airbag  injuries to the driver, because it can result in metal shards going through the airbag and hitting the motorist.

Nissan Recalls Vehicles Due to Airbag Defect

Nissan Motor Company has announced that it will recall 204,361 vehicles in the US because of an airbag defect that could lead to airbag deployment failure in the passenger’s side of the car.

BMW to Recall 200,000 Vehicles Due to Airbag Failure Problem

Airbags have been one of the most important safety measures that have been devised by the auto industry, saving thousands of lives every year. They have also been associated with deployment problems quite often in recent years. BMW has plans to recall at least 200,000 of its cars due to a possible deployment problem with the front passenger side airbag. The airbag failure problem, it is believed, occurs in the 2004 to 2005 5-Series standard and sport seat models, the 2004 to 2006 X3, and the 2006 3-Series with sport seats. All these cars are part of the recall that will start in September.

Chrysler Airbag Accidents Caused by Recalibration of Air Bag System

August 6th, 2008

A total of 1900 passengers and drivers in mini van crashes recorded between 2001 and 2006 were killed because the air bag did not deploy. Now, we have testimony from a Chrysler employee that suggests that some of these crashes occurred in cars whose air bags were recalibrated by the company to not deploy at all.

Toyota Air Bag Malfunctions in Fatal Crash

When the Tovar family bought the Toyota Prius for their son Charles, they chose the driver’s side air bag option. In the accident that killed Tovar, the bag didn’t deploy as it should have, and now attorneys for the family have filed a lawsuit.
