Actor Gary Coleman Caused Pedestrian Accident in Utah

September 8th, 2008

Actor Gary Coleman was involved in a pedestrian accident in Utah early Saturday morning. It has still not been conclusively proven if this was really an accident, however. The backdrop of the accident seems to suggest that there was an altercation involving the actor, best known for his appearances in the hit 80s TV show Diff’rent Strokes, and another man at a bowling alley.

The entire incident seems to have been set off when the actor with his wife Shannon Price was at a bowling alley in the early hours of Saturday in Payson, a city southeast of Salt Lake City. Another man at the alley, Colt Rushton began to take pictures of the couple. Coleman asked Rushton to stop taking pictures of him and his wife, and Rushton, it seems, continued to take his pictures. Things quickly developed into an altercation which the two continued right outside the bowling alley. After a while, Coleman seems to have gotten into his car, and as he was backing out of the parking lot, he seems to have crashed his car into another car, and Colt Rushton. Rushton was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries in the pedestrian accident.

Police investigating the accident insist it’s not clear if it was really an accident, or whether Coleman intended to hurt Rushton. Nobody has been cited in the pedestrian accident. The investigations are being hampered by the fact that neither man is cooperating with the police in the investigation. But alcohol does seem to have played a role in the pedestrian accident, police say.

We’ll have to wait for further investigations and until the two men who seem to be the only witnesses to the pedestrian accident, have been able to give their statements to the cops, for further details to emerge from this case.

From the looks of it, however it does seem as if there was more than careless backing of the car to blame in this accident. Celebrities are known for their aggressive reaction when there is an intrusion of their privacy. That’s what seems to have happened in this case. We can understand Coleman’s silence on this issue. The actor who’s been in the news for marital troubles and all kinds of other unwanted reasons in the past years, is understandably not too keen on having public scrutiny focused very firmly on a pedestrian accident, possibly even one caused under the influence of alcohol, and with a willful desire to cause injury to another. But, we wonder why Rushton, the victim in this case isn’t being more forthcoming. After all, he was presumably not doing anything wrong, just taking a few pictures of a famous face. People do that all the time. It’s no reason for a star to run amok with his car and use his vehicle as a weapon.

We hope when we hear from Colt Rushton, it will be to seek compensation for the injuries he suffered as a result of this accident.
