Wireless Companies Spurring Efforts to Prevent Texting While Driving Accidents

Personal injury lawyers in California would like to see wireless companies and cell phone makers get more involved in curbing texting while driving and preventing the accident risks of such behavior. Earlier this month, AT&T launched a nationwide anti-texting while driving campaign. The campaign has garnered attention like it was supposed to, but how much of an effect it will have on curbing the problem of texting while driving, remains to be seen.

Study Indicates Obese Men are More Likely to Suffer Upper Body Injuries in Accidents

A unique new study looks at the kind of effects obesity has when a person suffers injuries in an automobile accident, and the kind of injuries that an overweight person can expect. The researchers compiled data from the US National Automotive Sampling System’s Crash Worthiness Data System. They found that men with a high body mass index were at a high risk of certain injuries, like upper body injuries.

Police Investigating Fatal Hit-And-Run Pedestrian Accident in Los Angeles

It’s the kind of situation that a Los Angeles accident lawyer comes across all too often.  A man was killed early on Monday morning in yet another hit-and-run accident in downtown Los Angeles. According to news reports, the man was crossing Alameda Street when he was struck by a vehicle. The car then sped off without stopping at the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

National Safety Council Releases Paper on Distracted Driving Accidents

Risks from distracted driving accidentsThe National Safety Council has released a white paper into the crash risks from distracted driving accidents. The paper is called Understanding the Distracted Brain: Why Driving While Using Hands-Free Cell Phones Is Risky Behavior.”  The report is an analysis of how current legislation in place in several states may not be addressing the problem of distracted driving adequately by merely banning the use of hand-held cell phones while driving.

Six People Injured in Van Nuys Accident

March 30th, 2010

Six people were injured in an accident involving a sports-utility vehicle and a car in Van Nuys on Sunday afternoon. Two people in the sedan were trapped in the vehicle, and had to be rescued. They are reported to be in serious condition. The four occupants of the sport-utility vehicle were also injured, including two children, one of who suffered a serious laceration to the head. Police are investigating the accident.
