California Auto Accident Lawyers Support New Bill to Prevent Repeat DUI Offences

One of the biggest frustrations for California drunk driving accident lawyers has been the fact that DUI offenders are so easily able to escape license suspensions and revocations. Under current laws, the DMV can only make the decision to suspend or revoke licenses based on the person’s drunk driving convictions over the past decade. A license can only be revoked if the person has been involved in a series of fatal accidents while driving in an impaired condition. Now, a California legislator is proposing a new bill that will give a judge the power to revoke licenses of DUI offenders after 3 convictions.

Increase in Pedestrian Accidents in Glendale

In the last couple of yearsm Glendale has managed to bring about some major improvements in pedestrian safety, however this year Glendale is looking at a spike in pedestrian accidents. The numbers of such collisions has increased from 74 between January and November last year, to 89 during the same period this year.

Ventura Woman Dies a Month after Pedestrian Accident

December 29th, 2009

An elderly woman from Ventura, who was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident last month, succumbed to complications arising from her injuries. Eighty-four year old Mary Cox was seriously injured on the 25th of November when she was struck by a motorist as she tried to cross the street. Since the accident, Cox had been in the hospital. Cox developed pneumonia, which according to the Coroner’s Office, was caused by the multiple blunt force trauma injuries she sustained during the collision.

Sixteen People Killed in Auto Accidents in California over Christmas Holiday

The hoilday seasons usually show a dramatic spike in the number of intoxicated motorists on the road which leads to an increased number of alcohol related car crashes. This year’s Christmas season followed the same trend, it seems. There were more than 1,400 people arrested for driving under the influence across California during the holiday weekend.

Two Men Killed in Car Accident in Merced County

December 28th, 2009

Two men were killed on Christmas Eve in an accident involving a pickup truck and a Ford Focus. According to the California Highway Patrol, the two men were both driving at unknown speeds. The accident occurred at about 9:40 in the evening on a rural Merced County road.  The pickup driver appeared to have run a stop sign at an intersection, broadsiding the sedan. The impact of the accident caused both vehicles to flip over several times.
